The main objectives of the South African Cork Council
include:
•
setting and implementing minimum quality assurance
standards for corks in terms of
international suppliers, shipment, reception,
storage, handling, treatment and delivery;
•
TCA testing of all batches of corks imported by
accredited members of the Cork Council by an independent
laboratory. This is to ensure that corks which are offered
for sale comply with
the Cork Council’s specifications;
•
regular auditing of accredited members;
•
informing and educating audiences
about natural cork.
